AS A member of Portsmouth Players, Kimberley Hammer has already appeared on stage at the Kings Theatre – but now she’s set to take a starring role with a difference.

Because 27-year-old Kimberley and her fiance Danny Salter are celebrating after winning a wedding at the historic Southsea theatre in The News.

When we broke the good news, an excited Kimberley, of Chesterfield Road, Baffins in Portsmouth, said: ‘I can’t believe it. I’m in shock. Thank you so much.’

She added: ‘You enter these competitions and never think that you’ll be chosen as the winner.’

Kimberley, a therapist specialising in massage and reflexology, and teacher Danny, 33, have been engaged since 2006.

But they didn’t arrange a wedding because they couldn’t decide on a venue.

Then son Jude, now two-and-a-half, was born and saving to pay for the big day had to be put on hold.

But now the couple can look forward to a truly memorable ceremony with family and friends as they finally become Mr and Mrs Salter.

Their fantastic prize, worth more than £1,200, includes:

n Wedding service with 20 guests on a specially-decorated stage at the Kings on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 11am.

As if that’s not enough, Kimberley will also be offered the opportunity to buy a beautiful £1,000 Justin Alexander gown from award-winning Creatiques for just £500.

Kimberley said: ‘I’m so proud of our lovely Kings Theatre. I’ve performed there and been to see many shows.’

She added: ‘Jude has already been several times too and taken part in workshops. He seems to be quite theatrical.’

Sandra Smith from the Kings said: ‘I’m so pleased for Kimberley and Danny. They sound like a lovely couple and the Kings is delighted to play its part in making their wedding day truly special.’

On Sunday, the Kings is holding an Inspirational Wedding Day to showcase the weddings it can offer.

The event, which runs from noon to 4pm, will feature two mock wedding ceremonies, one traditional and one themed.

A catwalk by Creatiques will feature models wearing a range of bridal gowns, while local businesses will also be there to discuss the services they can offer to brides and grooms-to-be.

There will be a glass of buck’s fizz on arrival and a DVD of the first wedding at the Kings, which took place last year, will be showing to give people an idea of what their ceremony could look like.

Admission to the event is £2 per person, with no charge for under-16s.

Kimberley and Danny will be attending the show as part of their prize
