Jessica’s June Wedding

Wedding date?

2. Wedding venue?
Old Thorns Golf & Spa Hotel

2a. Did your wedding plans change due to covid? If so what changed?

We postponed our wedding date. We were originally meant to get married September 2020 but absolutely could not get married without our family and friends.

3. Wedding photographer & How did you choose your photographer?

Kerry Potter Wedding & Newborn photography. She is absolutely amazing, not only does she capture beautiful pictures that will keep the memories of our perfect day alive forever for so many of our families and friends. She was also so welcoming, friendly and she made us feel so comfortable as well as having a laugh. Kerry took photos of my newborn niece many years ago which is how we came to choose her.

4. Wedding Flowers & did you choose your dress before your flowers?

Miss Someflowers created mine and my bridesmaids beautiful bouquets as well as buttonhole for the men of the bridal party and corsages for the mother of the bride/groom.

5. Did you have a colour scheme or theme for your day?

I absolutely love grey and silver and always knew I wanted the whole day to sparkle.

The Dress

6. Dress Designer?

Maggie Sottero

7. Before visiting Creatiques did you have an idea of what style of gown you’d like? If so were you surprised by the gown you did choose?

I’ve always been very body conscious and never been very confident in my own skin. I went into Creatiques being very open minded and wanted to try on a range of different styles including ones which I thought were out of my comfort zone. I instantly knew I was in great hands, Creatiques knew my body better than I did and I cannot thank them enough for helping me to fall in love with the way I looked on my wedding day!

8. Overall how was your Creatiques experience?

Out of this world! I wish I could do it all over again and try on all the beautiful dresses!

9. Highlight of your wedding day?

The whole day was just so perfect from start to finish – even more perfect than I ever imagined! However being surrounded by our family and friends all happy and healthy after the challenges of the last 18 months was by far our biggest highlight.

10. Did you have any special touches?

We wanted to make sure that people who were no longer with us anymore were still very much apart of our day. I had a charm engraved with my Nanny’s handwriting from a birthday card she sent me before passing away that I had on my bouquet as i walked down the isle (she always said she was with me every step of the way in all I done in life). We also donated on behalf of all our guests to McMillan Cancer Support in loving memory of my Grandad and gave them pin badges to wear in his honour of him as wedding favours.

My family always said they would love for one of us to have a flash mob at a party! We decided to surprise them with a singing waiter… it was amazing and everyone was so shocked when they found out the lady that was waiting on them all afternoon getting their drinks orders wrong and causing havoc was actually a singer all along!

11. Do you have any advice for bride’s planning their big day?

Planning a wedding is not always plain sailing, ride out the bad times and enjoy every moment of the good times. The day will go by so quickly so take it all in and make sure you find a quiet 15 minutes during the day to take some time out as husband and wife and reflect. It’s such an amazing feeling being on cloud 9 savour every minute of it. A good friend also said to me once “I want a marriage more beautiful than my wedding” and that is so true!

Oh and you definitely will find your dream dress at Creatiques!

12. In hindsight, would you have done anything differently?

Absolutely not! We were both very anxious that it wouldn’t feel like a ‘normal’ wedding and that COVID 19 would very much feel present at our wedding day! How wrong we were, if anything it made it even more special because it reunited us as a family and group of friends. Although Boris closed the dance floor, we had great fun dancing around the tables. COVID didn’t feel present at all and we were reminded that love always wins!

Thank you both so much for making it happen – I’ll always be eternally grateful for your input in our wedding journey!
