30 Jul Valerie’s wedding in the woods
1. Wedding date?
6th July 2021
2. Wedding venue?
The Tournerbury Woods Estate
2a. Did your wedding plans change due to covid? If so what changed?
They did change several times, our wedding was postponed twice before we were third time lucky! Our original wedding date was 7th September 2020, then 20th May 2021 and then luckily we managed to finally tie the knot on July 6th 2021.
Postponing so many times meant we lost several suppliers and had to reorganise the day many times. We lost the band, catering, our baker, guests. the list goes on but we were determined to be husband and wife and the day turned out perfectly.
3. Wedding photographer & How did you choose your photographer?
Brook Rose Photography – we found her on instagram and fell in love with her dreamy, bright wedding photography. We could see she had a talent for capturing candid, spontaneous moments of love so we had to book her.
4. Wedding Flowers & did you choose your dress before your flowers?
I went to Ava at Blossom Boutique on Palmerston Road. Her talents speak for themselves, her skill level is leagues above and flowers were something I didn’t want to compromise on. I spoke to a few florists in the area before speaking to Ava and I knew straight away that her passion was there, she was the one that had the vision! I chose my dress first but because covid changed my arrangements changed according to seasons.
5. Did you have a colour scheme or theme for your day?
My bridesmaids were in dusty blue but our theme was forest based with a few modern concepts thrown in. I wanted the grand effect of pampas mixed in with pastels and botanicals. Sounds mad but it made sense I promise!
6. Dress Designer?
Justin Alexander – Sincerity collection
7. Before visiting Creatiques did you have an idea of what style of gown you’d like? If so were you surprised by the gown you did choose?
Yes I feel like I’ve told this story to everyone who will listen because of how seamless and lucky i was to find ‘the one’ so quickly. I fell for the trap and had fallen in love with a stunning Galia Lahav dress on instagram and explained it to Rob. I told him I adored how romantic the Tulle flowed and how stunning the sheer corseted frame was under layers of floral pearl embellishments. He explained that he knew exctly what i wanted and he had it in a brand new collection from Justin Alexander’s sincerity line. Sure enough it was the first dress i tried on and the very same dress I walked down the aisle in.
8. Overall how was your Creatiques experience?
I couldnt consider it in a more warm or perfect light. Andrew and Rob treated me like family every time I entered their boutique. Their professionalism is flawless and its evident that they adore finding brides their dream dresses. From start to finish my experience at Creatiques was exceptional.
9. Highlight of your wedding day?
I absolutely loved my ceremony and first dance! getting those perfect moments was everything we ever wanted and more.
10. Did you have any special touches?
I’m not sure that we had anything out of the ordinary, I credit all of my friends for how much they helped me! Two of my bridesmaids designed huge parts of the day like the invites and favours. My good friends (and bosses!) supplied the insanely amazing pizza van and bar (slice to meet you)(meat & barrel), so it was like a big family effort! I’m so lucky to have them all in my life.
11. Do you have any advice for bride’s planning their big day?
Don’t stress over the tiny details, it all comes together on the day. Make sure you take some time out with your partner on the day for just you two.
12. In hindsight, would you have done anything differently?
I would have chatted to the registrar about our wishes for the ceremony. They tend to take the lead when you’re completely overwhelmed! I would have preferred that she didn’t ask my brother to hand me over to my husband and my feminist was so shocked. Not a big deal it’s a little thing I would tweak!
